Service Description

May 14th-July 2nd Dedicated space for teens to explore and deepen a connection to their bodies in a safe and non-judgmental space. This is an opportunity to experience healing in body, mind and in community. In the group, participants will engage in meditation, breathwork, yoga, and other activities to help them reconnect to themselves and feel empowered, and resilient. All are encouraged to honor their needs and experience and to take options that are supportive for the individual. This group is open to all levels and abilities. Week 1: Intention & Orientation Participants will go through introductions to the 8 week-program, ground rules and engage in intention-setting practices, followed by a shorter grounding yoga practice. Week 2: Safety Participants will explore the sense of safety and unsafety experienced in the body. We will do a gentle dive into the yama (tool for developing a healthy emotional self) practice of ‘ahimsa’ and how that can be applied to how we move about our daily lives. Week 3: Self-Care We will reflect on our self-care plans and engage in an activity to see where we might incorporate different aspects of self-care into our lives. Yoga sequence will be grounded in developing personal choices in movement of one’s body. Week 4: Boundaries Participants will explore ways to discover and connect to their boundaries, what makes setting boundaries difficult, and the benefit of doing so. Yoga sequence will be centered on connecting to breath and sensing what certain boundaries might feel like in the body. Week 5: Assertiveness Participants will reflect on assertiveness and practice asserting their needs on that mat to help them speak their truth and find more balance in their lives off of the mat. Yoga sequence will focus on standing in one’s power, embodiment, and honoring boundaries. Week 6: Strength Group members will think about their concept of inner power. They will tap into aspects of themselves that make them feel strong.
